Vintage textured pick axe picaroon hammer custom JESSE REED baseball bat handle

  

Up for grabs is a nice old pick type hammer head I cleaned up, had a little fun with sharpening and made a handle for her, I did some rad texture work on this head to give her a cool hammered look and feel, I did the texture on both sides as well as all around the top and bottom and polished the wicked sharp pick end as well as the hammer end face............ I had some fun with this handle and did some real nice color work on her, this color is a combination of dyes, its not paint, the dye penetrates deep into the wood VS paint that just sits on top of the surface......... This head is old and full of character marks but nothing that effects her, if you looking for a brand new looking head this is not the axe for you, but if you looking for a good old solid head that made of good steel full of character and razor sharp then here is your girl!!!!!!! Now back to business, Shes approx. 15 in long and She weighs approx. There is no damage to this head such as cracks, welds, just the typical age marks of an old axe head...... I mirror polished the sharp pick end as well as the hammer face and did the texture work around the rest as I described earlier in this ad.......... This hammer is sharp so be safe when using her, if she hits or finger the toe or finger will end up with a big hole in it............. The handle is one of MY classic shapes and is all made by me, by hand here in Oregon......

The handle is made out of one piece of solid Ash...... I did my classic baseball bat theme on this one........... The handle has a great shape and in hand feel to her, it molds to the hand.... I set the head using both wood wedges and epoxy and got a nice tight fit that looks good on both the top and bottom...........

I sanded the handle silky smooth and used several coats of clear enamel for the final finish........................ I do combine when ever possible.... Cheaper on you and easier on me....
