Up for sale is a Super Rare J. Hillerich & Son Patent stamped - No. 716541 wood lathe hand carved antique base ball wooden bat with Meticulous care/HAND TURNED - see wonderful overall stamping. Must see all photos and antique circa bat description - wow! This awesome conditioned and SUPE RARE J. Hillerich & Son baseball dates to about 1902 through to 1911 and as you can see by the various photos, the bat barrel features an ornate engraving that reads PATENT No. Hellerich & Son center bat emblem and stamping is placed in sequence with the patent number to read it with the barrel to the right note: Youth bat stamped outside of center oval and stamped just above the rare J. Hillerich & Son oval stamping (see several photos from various angle to get a better overall view and visual description; no cracks). The 1902 Patent was established by Hillerich to introduce and protect the style and bat attributes/improvements in manufacturing that relates to improvements to harden the bat to help promote the ability to hit balls harder and more solidly. The patent included improvements to insure less chipping or better built and tempered to reduce cracking and ink proved the overall look and to improve the finish and surface smoothness by applying friction and additional heat to the bat while still in the wood lathe see wood lathe holes on this BEAUT on both the knob handle and the bat barrel - wow!!!!! Hillerich & Son is in great shape for being close to 120 years old as seen and photoed here with the bat in EXCELLENT overall shape and stamping - bat measures to 31.5 inches long and is slightly tapered from bat barrel to very solid and complete bat end knob - super heavy and sturdy/solid bat (patina of the bat is in original and solid condition - must see all 12 photos). Wonderful stamping throughout - see bat middle section and bat barrel- THIS old antique bat is very heavy and solid end of the barrel is flat versus the normal rounded barrel of end (see close up; see wood lathe hole and circular markings on bat barrel and knob end)!! Wood grain is super clean and strong throughout - see photos; please see all 12 photos for a better overall visual description.

This old rare and unusual antique base ball bat and dates to 1902 - very cool wood lathe marks circular holes (see close up). The bat has a beautiful & solid wood grain pattern throughout and is remarkably smooth up and down - very strong and tight bat with little tapering - extremely solid (small H carved into the bat knob and would have been done so by the owner from days gone by and used to identify the bat at the old ball games).
