Original Style BROOKLYN DODGERS Vintage ABC Game Baseball Batting helmet 1950s

So back in the 1990's a person at the ABC factory stumbled upon an old original mold from the very first batting helmets produced. Instantly a light bulb went off and an idea was formed. What if we reproduced the original batting helmets using this old mold? The mold was cleaned up, put into service, the original fiberglass was brought in, and they began the painstaking task of producing the original batting helmets - one at a time. It is the same as the originals.

Same mold, same fiberglass, same leather padding, same fuzzy flocking on the outside, and the same wool logos glued to the front in an attempt to make them look like a cap worn on the field. Hence the name of the company - American Baseball Cap. Yes, to wear a helmet in those days was uncool.

So, ABC made them look like a cap. The helmet is in new condition - in the original box. It comes with a booklet telling the history of the helmet. ABC reproduced these helmets in six (6) teams.

They are as rare to find for sale as Canseco fingers. You will not find them for sale as only a couple dealers bought any before ABC pulled the plug on the labor intensive process and went back to mass producing modern helmets in their state of the art molding machines.
