Vintage 1961-64 Mickey Mantle New York Yankees Professional Model Game Used Bat

This Louisville Slugger Mantle professional model K55 bat is a rare find! The bats labeling period documents this gamer as being from the historic 1961- 1964 era which will forever be remembered by Yankee and baseball fans alike! The bat features a ton of use with severe grain swelling from repeated contact, a vintage period bat boy nail applied to the backside of the barrel where there is a piece of wood that is missing from splintering off.

The bat is cracked on the handle in several places including the typical "H" Pattern cracks typical to ash wood bats. The bat had some repair work done in the form of tape removed near the handle which covered and secured the cracks.

The remaining residue was carefully removed to restore the bat to original used condition as best as possible for display. There was also holes near the cracks from screws that were previously placed to secure the bat further.

The holes were filled carefully as well (see photos). The bat displays great with very nice patina on the bat. This Mantle measures 34 inches and weighs approximately 33.1 ounces currently. Players often ordered their own specific bats for use, however many times the team placed orders for additional bats as needed or for experiment for weights and models.

This bat falls under that category and should be considered a Team Index bat. While Mickey did use the K55 model throughout his career as well as 34 inch bats, this bat does not match a Mantle order from this particular labeling period.
