The Pine Tar Incident occurred on July 24, 1983, when George Brett hit a home run that was nullified due to excessive pine tar on his bat, leading to a controversial ending where he was called out, and the Yankees initially won the game. However, the Royals protested, and the American League president later ruled that the home run should stand, allowing the game to be resumed, which the Royals ultimately won.
