Vintage blacksmith crosspeen hammer custom JESSE REED baseball bat handle biker

Now back to the business, This hammer is approx. 15 inches long roughly 1 1/2 pounds total weight (the head is a 20 ozer)........ The head on this hammer is in great shape with no damage such as cracks, chips, pits or rust, it has a really awesome rat rod type shape to her, just a neat old hammer head with a super classic shape and feel....... Now I said this hammer has no cracks, on the end of the peen there is a small split in the temper that goes towards the eye, not sideways, I believe this is from the heat treating process from when this hammer head was originally made, this is not from abuse and I honestly feel its just a cosmetic detail and does not make this head junk, if I wouldn't have polished this head the defect would have never shown up.... I cleaned all of the loose rust and dirt and then mirror polished the whole head.....

There was a faint race of some sort of makers mark, but not clear enough to identify so I didn't even try to save it... All in all this is a very cool hammer that feels good in the hand and has a great rebound.........

The handle is all hand made and hand turned by me here at the world famous "Uncle Pimpys Axe Palace " here in Springfield Oregon, home of the Original baseball bat handled tools on my old school 1940's wood lathe..... This handle is made out of Ash, just like real bats.......... I set the head using both wood wedges and epoxy and got a nice tight fit that looks good on both the top and bottom.............. I sanded the handle silky smooth, gave her a flame job, blacked her out even more with the top secret demon juice and then used several coats of boiled linseed oil for the final finish.....
