Vintage Hand Forged 20oz claw hammer custom JESSE REED baseball bat handle
Up for grabs is a really nice and very very old hand forged blacksmith made 20oz claw hammer head I had a little fun with and made a handle for............ This is a very large rad old head, its just simply a work of art....
What I dig about this head is how you can literally see the different layers of steel forged together, its like it has a wood grain to it.......... This hammer turned out cool, I went with the natural flamed look on the handle and feel the colors came out sweet, the grain is just beautiful......... Now back to the business, This hammer is approx. 14 inches long and roughly 1 3/4 pounds total weight..............
I cleaned all of the loose rust and dirt to expose the natural patina of this whole head......... There is no major damage to this head such as cracks, big chips or other related damage that makes her junk.................... All in all this is a very cool hammer that feels good in the hand and has a great rebound......... The handle is all hand made and hand turned by me here at the world famous "Uncle Pimpys Axe Palace " here in Springfield Oregon, home of the Original baseball bat handled tools..... This handle is made out of one solid piece of Ash.....I did MY signature hand cut half round beads in the grip area and I also blacked out those beads to give this handle a nice contrast of earth tones................ I set the head using both wood wedges and epoxy and got a nice tight fit that looks good on both the top and bottom.............. I sanded the handle silky smooth, gave her a flame job and then used several coats of clear enamel for the final finish.....
I do combine when ever possible.... Cheaper on you and easier on me....
