Vintage Old Antique And Rare Flat Sided Handmade Baseball Bat

  

This is the first what I consider legitimate flat surfaced baseball bat I have come across. I've seen others thought to be but the rival the wood brake handles used on railroad tracks making them hard to verify. This bat was handmade and its for sides planed flat. In the late 1800s bats like this that were used for bunting were outlawed. This looks to be a child's model, 32 in length. As with many early handmade bats this one has a slight bend to its handle. It is not cracked and other than a chip on its oval shaped knob, is undamaged. Even the handle of the bat has an oval shape. A rare and unique item.
