CABINET CARD PHOTOGRAPH of a YOUNG BOY with a BASEBALL and BASEBALL BAT, painted backdrop, taken by Doyle / Brooklyn, E. (Brooklyn, Eastern District, New York). On the backside is written: 1897 / JOHNNIE COONEY / PARKS B. The child appears to be about 9 years old. The date seem wrong for this to be Johnny Cooney the well-known baseball player of the time.

If someone has any idea who THIS Johnnie Cooney is, and if he has any relationship to THE famous Johnny Cooney, please let me know. An amazing vintage baseball cabinet card, showing the young boy with his long hair, Victorian style clothing, and baseball and baseball bat. It would have been a treat to see him on the field!

CONDITION: The front is bright and clear, with a scrape to the bottom right corner, not affecting the image. The backside has scrapes and tears and rubs; clearly the backside of this card was glued onto something at some point which caused paper to peel when it was removed. A solid cabinet card with a great Victorian child baseball image.
