Up for sale, a 1959 Gibson LG-1 in excellent condition, complete with the original faux alligator chipboard case. A well-kept, golden age Gibson, this LG-1 features a very hearty "baseball bat" neck profile carve, solid spruce top, solid Honduran mahogany back, sides and one-piece neck, and a Brazilian rosewood fretboard and bridge. Xtremely lively, bold and punchy. Instrument, this LG-1 has more projection and liveliness than typically afforded a ladder-braced Gibson, and theres a rich bark sitting just below the defined snap of the wound strings. Lenty of top end sparkle and sweetness, with a nice taut low midrange growl when you dig in hard with a flatpick.
Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and featherweight at 4lbs, this LG-1 features low action and fresh 12-53 strings. The one-piece mahogany neck has a a round. Round baseball bat C profile carve at the nut. Gaining even more heft higher up the fretboard and very easy-playing, measuring. 910" deep at the 1st fret and 1.045" at the 9th.
On the Brazilian rosewood fretboard, the original medium jumbo frets are intact. Recently leveled and crowned and showing just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The original nylon nut measures 1 11/16 in width, and the headstock retains a very clean gold Gibson silkscreen and original Kluson Deluxe single line tuning machines with stock white buttons. Inor bends in D and G tuner arms, which still function as intended.

The guitar benefits from a professional neck reset, and the neck meets the body at an ideal angle, ensuring decades of future trouble-free use. A corresponding compensated bone saddle has also been carved, slotting cleanly into the original Brazilian rosewood bridge.

The guitar retains its original very. Dark tortoise guard, pulling the spruce top upwards slightly at the treble-side waist yet flush with the top. Visible through the soundhole, the S-prefix factory order number is intact on the heel block.
The dark two-tone Sunburst finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, and the nitro lacquer gloss shows ti. Ght, faint vertical lacquer checking on top, with broader checking on the back and sides. Small repaired crack parallel with the treble side of the fretboard extending over the top and ending at the soundhole, professionally addressed and stable.
Wear is otherwise limited to requisite p. Ick scuffing across the guard, o.
Ne ding through the gloss at the treble side waist on top, and s. Ome scattered minor marks on the body as a whole, mostly relegated to the back and sides, with a bit of light scuffing in the clear coat of the gloss on the back as well.
The neck profile retains its smooth nitro gloss along its length, free of palm wear and extremely clean with just a couple tiny shallow marks. The original faux alligator chipboard case is included and quite well-kept considering the fragility of the materials. The plastic molded handle is split at one end, and the original latches are intact and functional. The small metal Gibson badge is also intact on the case pocket.
