Because this bat's centerbrand has an (R) after Slugger, this bat can specifically be dated to either 1965 or 1966. Pleis was a member of the 1965 Twins World Series team. This is a true grail item for those collecting the 1965 Twins team. He only had 8 plate appearances in 1965 and 0 in 1966.
Many pitchers used generic "Pitchers" bats during this period. It's stunning that Pleis even had a personal bat to begin with. I have never seen another example. This truly may be a 1/1 bat. The bat shows heavy use with numerous ball marks on the barrel. There is a crack on the handle, but no wood is missing. The bat is a model K55. Nothing is written on either end of the bat.
