He played 18 seasons in pro ball, including 5 years with the Brooklyn Dodgers, 5 with the Baltimore Orioles, 2 with the Kansas City Athletics, 2 with the Boston Red Sox, and part of a season with the Cleveland Indians. He also played three seasons with the Montreal Royals and St.
Paul Saints (AA for the Brooklyn Dodgers). Williams is better remembered for his managerial career that spanned 23 seasons. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008. Williams split that season between the Brooklyn Dodgers and St. He wore #7 when he played for St. This bat was locally sourced in St. It came from a local dealer who had acquired a group of bats from a former St. Paul Saints bat boy in 2015. I included a photo from a Saints scorecard from 1954, showing that Williams wore #7 that season. The bat shows heavy use with a good layer of pine tar on the handle.
The bat is cracked on the handle, but has had some nails driven into the crack... Perhaps by the bat boy who kept the bat? Model S2 is stamped into the knob and Williams #7 is written on the knob.
