Given to me by my grandfather, who is now 90 and has lived in St. Louis all his life and was a huge Browns fan before they moved to Baltimore. He attended the game during which this souvenir was handed out back on September 14, 1940. A September 14, 1940 St.

Louis Browns France Laux's Family Party Day souvenir miniature bat. These were given away at Sportsman's Park on Saturday, September 14, 1940 when the Browns beat the Washington Senators 5-2.

Only 1,067 fans were in attendance making this an extraordinarily rare piece of memorabilia. France Laux was the first full time baseball announcer in St. He caught the attention of CBS and broadcast the World Series for them from 1933-38. He broadcast the first 8 All Star games from 1933-41. Bat measures 5 long and is in great shape.

There are a few scuffs towards the hilt of the bat (see photos) but there are no chips, cracks or soiling present. In great shape for something 83 years old.
