Up for sale is an incredibly rare, high-quality piece of Western New York sports history: an authentic 1950's Hanna Manufacturing Company "Batrite" 15-inch miniature promotional baseball bat. This vintage wooden souvenir bat was produced as a premium promotional item for Kick's Athletic Goods, a legendary independent shop located at 772 Main Street in downtown Buffalo, New York. What Makes This Bat Extremely Rare. Unlike standard promotional bats of this era that used cheap black ink for the store text, this rare deluxe variant features dual gold foil stamping.
Both the center brand and the local store barrel stamp are executed in beautiful, reflective gold leaf foil. Features the classic gold leaf foil transfer logo reading "Batrite, Hanna, Athens, GA". Features matching gold leaf foil text reading: Kick's Ath.The lack of a postal zone or 5-digit ZIP code dates this piece cleanly to the mid-to-late 1950's. Perfect for an elite display, man cave, or regional sports memorabilia collection. This mini bat is in excellent vintage condition overall. The wood has a gorgeous natural amber patina and the grain is solid with no splitting. Both delicate gold foil transfers remain remarkably bright, complete, and highly legible with minimal wear.
For transparency, there is one small nick and minor split in the grain at the base of the handle on the knob. This minor blemish is very typical for utility pieces of this age and does not detract from the bat's appeal.
