Vintage 24oz ball peen hammer POLISHED custom JESSE REED baseball bat handle
Up for grabs is a really nice old 24oz blacksmith ball peen hammer head I had a little fun with and made a handle for....................... Now back to the business, This hammer is approx. This whole hammer is approx. I cleaned all of the loose rust and dirt to expose the natural patina of this whole head and I then mirror polished the peen end as well as the hammer face and sides of the hammer face and the cheeks and left all of the natural age marks and patina down in the valleys.......
There is no major damage to this head such as cracks, big chips or other related damage that makes her junk, she just has the typical age marks one would expect an old hammer head to have....................... All in all this is a very cool hammer that feels good in the hand and has a great rebound......... The handle is all hand made and hand turned by me here at the world famous "Uncle Pimpys Axe Palace " here in Springfield Oregon, home of the Original baseball bat handled tools..... This handle is made out of one solid piece of Ash.... I did some killer color work to the wood to get it jet black, the color work is done with a top quality dye that penetrates deep into the wood, the color is now part of the wood you could say......
I set the head using both wood wedges and epoxy and got a nice tight fit that looks good on both the top and bottom.............. I sanded the handle silky smooth and then used several coats of clear enamel for the final finish..... I do combine when ever possible.... Cheaper on you and easier on me....
