Vintage 3lb copper blacksmith hammer custom JESSE REED baseball bat handle
Up for grabs is a really nice old copper 3 pound blacksmith sledge type hammer head I had a little fun with and made a handle for................... This hammer turned out bad ass and both the feel in the hand and colors of the wood turned out top notch!!!!!! Now back to the business, This hammer is approx. This whole hammer is approx.
3 1/2 pounds total weight (hair under that)......... I cleaned all of the loose dirt to expose the natural patina of this whole head and just left all of the natural age and use marks in her, its a look that you just cant fake................ There is no major damage to this head such as cracks, big chips or other related damage that makes her junk............................... All in all this is a very cool hammer that feels good in the hand and has a great rebound......... The handle is all hand made and hand turned by me here at the world famous "Uncle Pimpys Axe Palace " here in Springfield Oregon, home of the Original baseball bat handled tools..... This handle is made out of one solid piece of Ash.............
I set the head using both wood wedges and epoxy and got a nice tight fit that looks good on both the top and bottom.............. I sanded the handle silky smooth, gave her a flame job and then used several coats of clear enamel for the final finish..... I do combine when ever possible....
