Vintage Baseball bat 1960s Never used Mickey Mantle Louisville Slugger 125. 32in
This bat is still brand new. My wife's father bought this bat in the 1960's and had it imported Australia (along with two others). The bat is in terrific condition. Note: this is the real deal.
It is a "powerized" bat, not a "flame tempered". It has a facsimile autograph, not a block letters name for Mickey Mantle. The lack of any underlining of the 125 on the brand, as well as the small R in a circle after the words Louisville Slugger - and no other small R in a circle anywhere else - confirms my wife's memory: it was manufactured some time between 1965 and 1968.
For how to tell if a bat is a genuine vintage one or not. This bat was made while Mickey Mantle was still playing (he retired in early 1969 after the end of the 1968 series). The number 2 on the knob shows it is 32 inches. The weight given for this wooden bat is approximate; the scales I use are okay, but not perfect.
The small smudge mark on the nob is there because the bat was standing on its handle end leaning up against a wall, in a concrete floor garage. It has never been used in the last 50 years.
