Vintage Craftsman tomahawk axe hatchet custom JESSE REED baseball bat handle
Up for grabs is a really nice old Craftsman thin bladed carpenters axe head I had a little fun with and made a handle for............................... Now back to the business, This hatchet is approx. 15 inches long and roughly 1 3/4 pounds total weight......... I cut and trimmed this head into more of a tomahawk style head, originally when I got this head there was damage by the nail slot so it made a good head to reshape and salvage her VS leaving the damage and letting her be junk..... I cleaned all of the loose rust and dirt off of this head to expose the natural patina of the aged steel and the I got the cutting edge razor sharp and chip free......
I mirror polished the hammer face as well as both sides of the cutting edge...... The factory logo is semi there and fully legible........... This hatchet is extremely sharp and great care should be used when opening the parcel when she arrives, I cant stress enough that this hatchet not a toy............. All in all this is a very cool hatchet that feels good in the hand and has a great rebound.........
The handle is all hand made and hand turned by me here at the world famous "Uncle Pimpys Axe Palace " here in Springfield Oregon, home of the Original baseball bat handled tools..... This handle is made out of one solid piece of Hickory and I carved some real nice half round beads into the wood in the grip area, I also blacked out the beaded area with dye to give the handle some rad colors.................. I set the head using both wood wedges and epoxy and got a nice tight fit that looks good on both the top and bottom..............
