Vintage Plastic Bank with 10 miniature Louisville Slugger Baseball bats
I remember that the Washington Senators moved to Minnesota Harmon Killebrew went with them! After the 1960 season and the American League expanded with 2 new teams for the 1961 season, adding the California Angels and "new" Washington Senators, making a league of ten teams. My father bought the bank for me at a souvenir stand at Griffith Stadium in 1961 (I was 12 and I do remember it was at Griffith Stadium).
And it was 1961 because the expansion Senators only played at Griffith Stadium in 1961 because D. Stadium (now RFK stadium) opened in 1962 and the Senators played there in 1962 and after. I have a lot of fond memories of the Senators and the bank has been in my possession ever since - time for it to go (no one in the family wants it). It has ten wooden miniature Louisville Slugger bats, each about 4 3/4 inches long. Each bat is marked with the name and logo of one of the ten American League baseball teams in 1961. (The bats don't "fit" so good in the top of the bank "bat rack" as can be seen in the photos).
