Louisville Slugger has been synonymous with finely crafted, American made baseball bats since the late 1800s. In 1938, they began producing the World Series "black bat", a tradition that continued for 60 years. The black bats were given to participating players from each team in the Fall Classic, as well as to dignitaries, league officials, and high ranking executives. This Vintage 1990 LOUISVILLE SLUGGER CINCINNATI REDS BASEBALL WORLD SERIES BLACK BAT is in excellent condition, with some light spot nicking to the edge of the knob, some scattered whitish residue to the handle, some light whitish scuffing to the barrel, and with some light scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the bat is in excellent shape, with absolutely no cracking or other damage to the elegant black finished hardwood construction. Most interestingly, it measures 35" long, bears the classic "125 / Louisville Slugger" maker's mark at the upper front, and is stamped "CINCINNATI REDS / WORLD CHAMPIONS / 1990" on the barrel, along with such famous player names as "BARRY LARKIN", "Paul O'Neill", and "JOSE RIJO", and their manager, Sweet "Lou Piniella. A beautiful example of a rare, original.
